Itinerary

THURSDAY

10.19.23

Arrival Day

We'll start our trip with a Washington Wine tasting at Birch Road Seattle. See our historic landmark clubhouse, visit with other Birch Road members, and get a taste of Washington before we head to Oregon. *Out of town members must book their own hotel room

FRIDAY

10.20.23

Off to Oregon

  • Meet at King Street Train Station in Seattle at 11AM. We'll be taking the 11:30AM train together to Portland. Feel free to bring wine, snacks, and more for the beautiful train ride through the Pacific Northwest.

  • A private shuttle will be waiting for us in Portland. It's about an hour ride to McMinnville.

  • We'll check into our Flats at the Atticus Hotel and have time to freshen up or explore downtown McMinnville.

  • Dinner at The Cypress in the Atticus Hotel at 6PM.

SATURDAY

10.21.23

Time for Wine

  • Our shuttle will depart from the Atticus at 9:30AM.

  • Coeur de Terre will be our first stop. Kisses from the winery dog and beautiful views make for a great start to our day. We'll get a deep dive into the terroir of the vineyards with winery owner Scott Neal.

  • Next we'll head to The Carlton Winemaker Studio, a shared winery space for small production or start-up wineries. It's quite active during harvest season, but if possible we'll get a peek inside the production floor before our tasting. After our tasting, we can enjoy lunch on the patio from local sandwich shop The Horseradish.

  • Off to Abbey Farms for a tasting in the barn! We'll enjoy a flight of 5 wines and the adventurous can explore the active farm grounds.

  • Our day will end at Grand Moraine Winery for a 3-course wine dinner and pairing guided by Dan Walsh, Jackson Family Wines Education Specialist.

SUNDAY

10.22.23

No Such Thing As Too Much Wine

  • Our chariot will pick us up at 9:30AM at the Atticus Hotel.

  • We'll start our day with Day Wines at Day Camp. Brianne Day is a highly regarded winemaker and it's possible you've seen her popular Vin de Days wine on your local wine store shelves. You'll be able to select your own flight of wines so you can explore her unique selection at your own pace.

  • A quick ride over to Dundee for some self-exploration. We'll have appointments at 4 tasting rooms for you to choose from or explore on your own.

  • Next we'll head to Hazelfern Vineyard for a private tasting with winery owners Brian & Lauren. This small production winery has no tasting room but will welcome us in their production facility in between harvest work of the fall.

  • Our 3rd stop for the day will be McKinlay Wines for a farm tasting with winemaker Matt Kinne. You might not find this winery on Google and that's because there is no tasting room and it's not open to the public. But Matt is excited to give Birch Road members a tour of the grounds and a tasting in the winery production facility (dress warm).

  • At 4PM, our bus departs to Middleground Farms for our farm-totable wine dinner. Put on an apron and get your hands dirty with our chefs to guide you, or simply sip on wine and enjoy the farm views on the patio as dinner is prepared. It's up to you!

MONDAY

10.23.23

Back to Portland

  • Transportation will be available to PDX airport at 9AM.
